The ideal leader combines
the essence of leadership with the skills and knowledge of a general manager. Not all managers
are leaders. The key tasks for managers involve planning, organizing and
directing. For leaders the key tasks are defining
purpose, creating shared vision and values, and generating alignment with the organization’s purpose.
Leadership development is a key element to any successful corporation. First, those who have leadership potential must be identified, and then it is critical to be intentional and pro-active through blends of training, coaching, and career-pathing.
